Ryan is a Paris-born Palestinian-American filmmaker who grew up in cities around the world: San Francisco, Jerusalem, London, and New York. The son of an outspoken journalist, Ryan's politics were formed at an early age –– attending countless protests before he could walk and eventually landing in California. He found an outlet in sports and cinema, but in college traded in his NBA dreams for a camera.
Combining his love of movement and athleticism from his formative years with a sensitive eye towards capturing human complexities, Ryan seeks to pair natural performances with his passion for striking cinematic aesthetics. More recently, he directed two short narrative fashion films Amor Fati and Ostal24 for Marine Serre which were featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair, and the New York Times, and went on to win numerous awards at several prestigious festivals. His latest music video for renown electronic artist M83 was awarded a D&AD award for best narrative music video.
Based in Paris & New York.
